Located on Spedding Road in WHangarei this @chorusnz cabinet was painted by Marino Duke a local graffiti artist known for the graffiti art workshops he runs at the Whangarei Youth Space.

This fantastic mural was painted in early 2020 by Shane Walker (@shanewalkerartworks) for the Street Prints festival held in Tauranga. The highly detailed mural can be found on the corner of Wharf St and Durham St, downtown Tauranga.

Supereruption Supereruption

Larissa McMillan is a multi-disciplined artist involved in photography, video production, writing and of course street art. This mural found along Marama Arcade in Taupo is called Supereruption and references the massive volcanic eruption that eventually formed the great lake.

Mana Motuhake Mana Motuhake Mana Motuhake Mana Motuhake Mana Motuhake

Standing nearly five metres tall Mana Motuhake is a new artwork installed in Christchurch's Victoria Square in 2019. Mana Motuhake was carverd by Ngai Tahu master carver Fayne Robinson and consists of two upright waka with carved figures inside. The carvings pay tribute to the Treaty of Waitangi with the carved figures displaying the moko worn by to the signatories of the Treaty.

Look for this massive mural in the carpark of New World Motueka. This is another wonderful mural painted by Golden Bay artist Chris Finlayson and was painted in 1998 with the help of a few fellow artists, Liana, Te'aute and Graeme.

Wal and Dog Wal and Dog

Located outside the entrance of the HB Williams Memorial Library on Bright Street, Gisborne, is the Wal and Dog sculpture dedicated to the late Footrot Flats cartoon creator Murray Ball. The sculpture of the instantly recognisable kiwi farmer with his dog was created by Weta Workshop and cast in bronze by Jonathan Campbell. The Footrot Flats comic strip, created in 1975, featured in newspapers and in book form until 1994. The scupture was unveiled at its permanent location in front of the library in 2018.

This unnamed red sculpture can be found outside Te Manawa, the art gallery and museum of Palmerston North. The sculpture is split into three parts which allows for a changing view as onlookers pass by or walk around the sculpture.

Found on Kohimarama Rd in Auckland near the corner of Allum St is this @chorus cabinet painted by Doug FOrd in 2013. A simply design that nevertheless evokes thoughts of a large unkempt garden somewhere in suburban Auckland. Look closely for a couple of playful dogs in the dark expanses of the garden. The Rays of the Sun The Rays of the Sun

Hihi o Tamanuitera (The Rays of the Sun) is a mural that can be found on Church St in Opotiki, it is one of the initial 14 murals painted by more than 200 children from 12 schools around the region. Since the original project began to bring life to the streets of the town more than 30 murals have been created.

This mural was painted by Carly Ealey in March 2016 for the Napier Sea Wall festival. Given the name Slow Surrender, the artist has used a gradient of colours from cool blue to warm orange to signify the changing temperature of the sea along with the subject of a fully clothed girl sitting in calm surrender to the rising sea level.

Charles Upham Charles Upham Charles Upham Charles Upham

Charles Hazlitt Upham was one of only three people to be awarded the Victoria Cross twice for his actions in Crete in 1941 and Egypt in 1942. Upham was born in Christchurch in 1908 and joined the war effort soon after hostilities began in September 1939. Captured by the Germans in 1942 he was sent to a prisoner of war camp in Germany and after a failed escape attempt he became the only New Zealander to be transferred to the infamous Colditz camp for habitual escapers. This bronze statue of the famous soldier stands outside the Hurunui District Council buildings in Amberley, North Canterbury. Photos supplied by Sam and Paul Corliss.

Kete for Opotiki Kete for Opotiki

Artist Anna Gedson uses traditional Maori weaving techniques to design miniature kete (traditional carry bags made from woven flax) using non-traditional materials such as aluminium or copper. Upscaling the design she produced this much large kete found outside the i-site in Opotiki. The artwork was blessed in front of a large crowd in August 2018.

The Spirit of Time The Spirit of Time

In the middle of the town square in Richmond stands The Spirit of Time by Peter Knowles. Created in 1994 this sculptural sundial, weighing in at approximately 800 kilograms, can be used to accurately read the time to within 10 seconds of the actual time.

Swiss street artists Nevercrew were part of a team of international and local artists who descended on Gisborne in 2018 to paint murals for the Tairawhiti Seawalls festival. Their broken whale murals speaks of the state of our oceans where pollution and over fishing will eventually result in the breakdown of the food chain.

Kaiwhakatere: The Navigator Kaiwhakatere: The Navigator

Kaiwhakatere: The Navigator by sculptor Brett Graham references the travels of both Polynesian and European sailors on the quest for new lands. The three forms represent a bird, waka and tuahu, sea birds often guided sailors toward land, the waka represents the various vessels used on ocean journeys with the tauhu being an altar of stones built on arrival by the grateful travellers.

Anderson Park in the Napier suburb of Greenmeadows is a large recreational space with small lakes and waterways, a childrens playground and is home to the Greendale Tamatea Scout Group. This large colourful mural by Sallie Dunford and Casey McLeay covers two sides of one of the out buildings found in the park.
