Great White SharkNick Tupara's mural for Seawalls Tairawhiti retells the story of the pet shark of Mahakirau who is sent into the depths of the ocean to bring back a branch from a special underwater tree, this branch was planted to become the great forest that surrounded the region of Tairawhiti. In the mural the shark is constrained by a net of barbed wire to signify the destruction of the great forest in the quest for profit.

Total IrrigationThis mural is a commissioned piece by Ellen Coup for Total Irrigation on their premises in the Wellington suburb of Rongotai. This fun mural displays a range of services provided by the company and provides a splash of colour in an otherwise drab commercial neighnourhood.

Tuhia Ki Te RangiFor the Street Prints Mauao 2019 edition Holly Rock produced this mural called Tuhia ki te rangi which translates as Write it in the sky. The words come from an ancient karakia passed down through the generations. The mural can be found on a large wall at the end of the Dive Cres carpark.

Gold of the KowhaiThe Gold of the Kowhai was created by New Zealand sculptor Paul Dibble in 2014, it was purchased by members of the MTG Foundation and gifted to the Hawke's Bay Museums Trust. The 3.3m tall sculpture, installed in a small grassed area opposite the main entrance of the Museum, features a larger than life kowhai flower gilded in 24 carat gold.

Underground CoffeeNick Lowry is a freelance multidisciplinary artist from Christchurch whose street art can be found in several locations around his home city. This large mural, photographed by Sam and Paul Corliss, can be found on Durham Street on the outside wall of Underground Coffee.

Kapa Haka – PakakaPakaka, a life sized bronze sculpture by Michael Parekowhai, is part of a series called Kapa Haka. The sculpture, found in the grounds of the Auckland University, depicts the artists older brother as a protector of society, captured in his work as a security guard.

WingspanContinuing with his keen interest in New Zealand native birds Taupo artist Tane Lawless shows the two major birds of prey, the New Zealand Falcon (karearea) and the Swamp Harrier (Kahu). The mural was painted for the Taupo Graffiato festival.

Gisborne – FarmlandsThis mural is part of an ongoing series of murals painted on Farmlands buildings around New Zealand by artist Mr G (Graham Hoete). The main focus of the mural is a portrait of Te Moana-Nui-a-Kiwa Ngarimu who was the first Maori recipient of the Victoria Cross earned in battle in Tunisia as a member of the 28th Maori Battalion during World War II. The rest of the mural shows distinctive features of the Gisborne district such as Rere Fall and the wharf at Tolaga Bay.

Woods from the TreesThis sculpture called Woods from the Trees was born from the earthquake damaged streets of Christchurch. The salvaged rimu used in the sculpture was collected from a couple of damaged properties and fixed onto steel framing to create a kind of memorial to the numerous buildings that were lost to the earthquake in 2011. The sculpture was designed to remain in place for a minimum of 3 years and as the material deteriorated it would be assessed over time to see if it can remain safe. WaterbirdsWater Birds is the creation of Arrowtown sculptor Mark Hill. Made from forged stainless steel the sculpture can be found in Wanaka along the Bullock Creek just before it feeds under Ardmore St. Mark Hill is a New Zealand sculptor who creates large scale artworks from corten or stainless steel for public and private collections.

TangaroaThe inspiration behind this mural by America artist Cryptik was a Maori prayer for the god of the sea, Tangaroa. Toitu te Marae o Tane-Mahuta, (If the land is well,) Toitu te Marae o Tangaroa, (and the sea is well,) Toitu te Tangata, (the people will thrive.)

Berhampore RainbowIn 2010 Wellington artist Ellen Coup created this rainbow of colour on Stanley St outside the Berhampore Primary School. The mural certainly adds a lot of colour to what would otherwise be a dull grey concrete wall.

CrocsThis long wall of pimped out crocs was painted by Ashin Ashin for the Street Print Mauao 2020 festival. The mural is located on Steeple Lane and replaces an older mural by Cinzah.

Dusky DolphinsThis mural of a pod of Dusky Dolphins can be found on the side of the old Drill Hall / Scout Hall in Kaikoura. The hall, built in 1901, was used in early times as a drill hall by the army but has also been used over time by many social groups such as brass bands and football clubs. Dusky Dolphins are only found in the Southern hemisphere with a decent sized population in New Zealand waters. The artist who created this mural is unknown. Spirit of NapierThe Spiriti of Napier statue was created in 1971 by Auckland sculptor Frank Szirmay who worked from a photograph of a young model. The form of the sculpture symbolises Napier rising from the ashes of the 1931 earthquake.
