Te Kahui Matariki represents the seven stars of the Matariki (or Pleiades) constellation. These seven pou carved by James Tapiata can be found in Robbins Park, Tauranga. The third figures (close up) is Tupu a Rangi who deals with the navigational aspects of Matarangi.

When state highway 18 was built through Hobsonville Sinton House Homestead was unable to be relocated. This sculpture by John Radford incorporates windows from the original homestead into the artwork.

Outside the Trusts Stadium in Henderson stands this magnificent bronze and basalt sculpture of a spinning top. This is a kinetic sculpture as, despite its size and obvious weight, the top can be spun. It is mounted on hidden bearings so with a bit of effort can be moved by anyone keen enough to try. The sculpture is by Steve Woodward, we are unaware of its title so if you know please send us a message.

Maui fishing up the North Island is the greatest legend in Maori literature. Standing 3.5 metres tall Matau a Maui (The Hook of Maui) by Joe Kemp is a larger than life sculpture of the hook from the legend made from his grandmothers jawbone.
