Warren Pohatu
Warren Pohatu (1962 – 2014) was a graphic designer from Glen Eden, author and illustrator of four books on subjects around Maori myths and legends. His books were published between 2000 and 2007 and were designed to educate and entertain young children with tales of Maori legends surrounding mythical creatures as well as the native birds and animals of New Zealand. His book, The Marae described the protocols involved in visiting a Marae with the intention of reducing the confusion visitors often felt on their first visit. Only one example of Warren's artwork can be seen on the streets, the painted transformer named Tuna outside Parrs Park in Sunnyvale. We hope this transformer can stand undamaged and untagged for all to enjoy.
