Richard Wedekind

Before turning to art Richard originally trained in geology and geochemistry working for 15 years in the mining and exploration industry. Now a painter and sculptor based on Waiheke Island he creates his sculptures using the mediums of timber, mild and corten steel. His works make reference to the state of the environment and the effects of climate change and use scale to encourage the viewer to approach from a distance, as one nears the sculpture will eventually dwarf the viewer.
