Louise Purvis
Born in Pahiatua Louise Purvis began exhibiting as an artist at the age of 20. Three years after completing her Design Diploma from Waiariki Polytechnic in Rotorua she relocated to Auckland to set up a studio in Point Chevalier. Working mainly with the mediums of stone and metal she has created a number of sculptures purchased for public display including Promise Boast (2005 – Auckland Domain) and Homage to Crown Lynn (2007 – Olympic Park). Her career has also seen her working on a number of public and private buildings including the restoration of St Matthews in the City, the Auckland War Memorial Museum as well as working as lead artist on the New Lynn Transport Interchange. Recent work from Louise Purvis has included a 'Cage' series, a public example of this is the installation 'Estuarine' at Hobsonville Point.
